"Where do you think you are" series

A series on Tipp FM sponsored by the The Heritage Office and Heritage Council exploring the origins and history behind the place names of some of the towns and villages in the county.

Running over 10 weeks , the series will delve into the archives such as the Schools Folklore Collection, talk to the experts at the Place names Commission and talk to the locals on the ground about how their town or village got it's name. Researched and presented by Mary Ann Vaughan it promises to be a fascinating insight into the story behind the name.

Stories from the landscape

'Stories from the Landscape' is a collaborative project between the Heritage Offices in Tipperary, Galway and Clare and the Galway Film Centre.

A series of 9 short films were shot last year, 3 in each county, dealing with a variety of heritage stories.

Paul Murphy from the Galway Film Centre travelled to Tipperary to meet with Gearoid O Foighil from Cloughjordan who was filmed on Scohaboy bog talking about the restoration and development of the boardwalk and community initiatives on the site over the last few years.

TIPPERARY HOLY WELLS AUDIT

In 2021 Tipperary Heritage Office commissioned an audit of Holy Wells in County Tipperary. You can find a report with some preliminary findings below with the full findings made available in November 2022.
