Categories of Elector

The Register comprises four categories of electors. A person's citizenship determines their category and the type of elections at which they may vote as in the table below:

The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien TD has on 5 April 2024 made orders appointing Friday, 7 June 2024 as the polling day for the European Parliament and Local Elections.

Local & European Elections

When the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government announces that the Government has agreed European Parliament or Local Elections will be held to be entitled to vote your name must be included on the Register of Electors.

How to register to vote

Each local authority is legally obliged to maintain, update and publish its Register of Electors. The Register must be maintained and updated on an ongoing basis.

The latest date for the receipt of Appeals in respect of the Register of Electors of the County of Tipperary in advance of the Local and European elections shall be Wednesday 22nd May 2024 at 4.30pm.

Postal & Special Voter Applications

Closing date for receipt of Postal & Special Voters Applications for the Local and European Elections 2024 is 11 May 2024.

Postal Voters List

A person registered as a postal voter may vote by post only and may not vote at a polling station. Electors must apply each year to be on the postal voters list.
