The application for ‘Tipperary Town Regeneration’ has been granted funding under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF) from the Department of Rural & Community Development.
The overall project cost is €9,970,000 with grant funding of €7,980,000 allocated from the RRDF and Tipperary County Council will provide match funding of €1,990,000 in recognition of its ongoing commitment to the rejuvenation of Tipperary Town .
The project will see the former Civic Offices at Dan Breen House reimagined as a Youth and Further Education and Training Centre in partnership with Youth Work Ireland Tipperary and Tipperary Education and Training Board. The project will support a range of youth programmes and training opportunities in Tipperary Town.
The former Courthouse & Bridewell on Michael Street will be transformed into a day service location for adults with intellectual disabilities in partnership with MooreHaven Centre. MooreHaven provides a broad range of supports and services to 120 users and will be the new custodians. Its services are expected to increase in demand in the coming years, and the Courthouse and Bridewell project is part of an ambitious expansion plan. The repurpose and full restoration of Dan Breen House, Tipperary Courthouse and Bridewell is being welcomed in Tipperary Town.
Tipperary County Council would like to thank the local community in Tipperary town and the Elected Member for working with various design teams to ensure all elements obtained the necessary statutory permissions in advance of submitting the funding application.
