Free Online Mask Making Workshops for children with leading Irish Artist from Tipperary Aideen Barry.
In 2020, we're having to think about masks in a whole new way and that's what leading Irish visual artist Aideen Barry has done.
Even though she's was busy working in Kaunus, Lithuania on a project with European colleagues, she took time out to create three different masks and to show us "How to Make" them for ourselves.
Funded and commissioned by Tipperary County Council's Arts Office, the workshops are designed to get us all thinking about facemasks as a way of protecting ourselves from Covid 19 but also as a way of making them fun and silly too.
We all need fun and creativity in our lives these days - especially at a time when many are feeling anxious about the virus and its repercussions for everyday life.
In these simple online workshops Aideen will show children and young people how to make a simple face-mask but to think of it as a kind of disguise where you can become your favourite animal with a little bit of animation magic.
In the videos, she will show everyone how to use some stop-motion techniques to turn her Face Mask into a chameleon, mouth lashing out and gobbling flies or as a cute but sneaky fox finally getting its hands on the Ginger Bread Man.
Children will learn how to create a simple no sew face mask at home with family or in school and then will add their own creative flair to generate different types of animals.
Aideen has created 3 different types and she encourages everyone to get creative and make your own kind of creature with super powers.
